What's in the Name? 'Casavaria' means more than just a house of varied purpose, and signifies a universal taste and thinking beyond borders. Services & Media Expressive Interface Casavaria's Founder |
"CASAVARIA", a hybrid of the Spanish words for 'house' and 'varied', signals something far beyond the obvious 'house of varied purpose'. The choice of the archaic form 'varia' was inspired by a quote from the Argentine writer Jorge Luís Borges, who referred to a collection of his own most cherished original writings which he edited as "una silva de varia lección" (a forest of varied reading).
The name Casavaria derives from Borges' description of a literary anthology the spirit of an open reading, a field of meaning, style and interpretation that implies no specific boundary. Casavaria represents a philosophy that underwrites an entire approach to interpreting the world, redrafting it, cultivating its evolution. It is a philosophy that asserts that the best in human nature is manifest in a creative act.
The 'variation' or 'variety' implied by Casavaria is not only a linguistic multiplicity, or the implementation of diverse media, but rather an acknowledging of the need to keep looking for new ways to define reality and to express what often seems not to fit within the most broadly accepted cultural consciousness: the content of our individual dreams and emotional life.
Since the means of expressing these aspects of our experience vary from person to person and from culture to culture, the project of facilitating experimentation in such expressive literature and artwork aims to promote tolerance, openness and by extension an enhanced communicative flow among human beings.
